A short-term rental ordinance governing single-family homes at Smith Mountain is a step closer to fruition. The Bedford County Board of Supervisors recently initiated a list of zoning text amendments that includes eliminating regulations on short-term rentals. According to the News & Advance, the type of occupancy– essentially covers homes used as vacation rentals in the R-1, R-2 and Planned Residential zoning districts for less than 30 days. On Tuesday, the County’s Planning Commission held a public hearing on the issue. The commission has 90 days from the date of the hearing to give supervisors a recommendation for action.
