School Board Passes GPA Change

LynchburgCitySchoolsThe Lynchburg City School Board, yesterday, approved a policy change that will grant students the opportunity to earn a 5.0 grade point average for an A. Beginning next school year, an extra grade point average weight can be earned to dual enrollment college courses in English, mathematics, science and social studies offered at the high schools and courses offered at certain special regional programs. According to the News & Advance, school divisions in other counties are already giving additional weight to courses in regional programs. School leaders have been advised to research and compare courses to determine the level of challenge the classes before making changes to the weight given.
