Appomattox has the highest per-capita income of any locality listed on chart of 11 neighboring counties and cities, stretching from Amherst and Lynchburg to counties along the North Carolina border. The Appomattox County School Board on Thursday reviewed the data and discussed how the charts could be shared with the community; and to be utilized in argument for the county to allocate more money for schools in its budget. The division requested about $1.1 million more per year in funding from the county. The information has already been forwarded to the County’s Board of Supervisors. Supervisors have yet to vote on a budget; a public hearing is set for April 28 and the board will likely vote on May 5.
