From Virginia State Police: Trooper B.S. Mays is investigating a fatal traffic crash in the Concord area of Campbell County. Trooper Mays noticed tire marks in the eastbound lanes of Route 460 and stopped out shortly before 7 a.m. Wednesday (June 3) to investigate the nature of the marks. During the course of his investigation, he discovered a car had crashed approximately 20 yards down an embankment. A deceased female was located with the vehicle. Trooper Mays has determined that the car was traveling east on Route 460 when it ran off the right side of the road and struck the guardrail. The car then crossed over the eastbound lanes, continued through the median, ran off the left side of highway, and continued over and down the embankment. The crash is believed to have occurred during the predawn hours of Monday (June 1). The car was not visible to passing traffic on Route 460. State police is still in the process of notifying the woman’s next of kin. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
