The Town of Appomattox will no longer assist in the organization of the Historic Railroad Festival. The town council last week voted to make a donation instead of getting involved in other aspects of the event. The Times Virginian reports, a donation amount has not been agreed upon, nor has a decision been made on which group will pick up the slack for organizing the festival. Costs incurred by the town include trash pickup, administrative work, and staff pay. According to the article, the festival costs the town an average of $20,000.
