UPDATE: Teenager arrested for Lynchburg shooting; Woman leaves hospital

UPDATE 08/04/2016: A 15-year-old boy from Lynchburg was taken into custody yesterday for the shooting Tuesday in the 800 block of James Crossing Apartments.

Officials say further investigation resulted in the juvenile being charged with Reckless Handling of a Firearm, Discharging a Firearm in an Occupied Dwelling and Possession of a Firearm under the age of 18.

The victim, Malaysha Wright, was discharged from the Lynchburg General Hospital Emergency Department the same evening she was treated.

From Lynchburg Police Department: On August 2, 2016 at approximately 1544 hours Officers of the Lynchburg Police Department were dispatched to the 800 block of James Crossing Apartments in reference to a possible malicious wounding. When Officers arrived on the scene they found a b/f victim, Malaysha Wright Age 18 of Lynchburg, complaining of a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Upon speaking to the victim she provided multiple conflicting stories. Several witnesses observed a b/m running from the scene.

The victim was transported to the Lynchburg General Emergency Room for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The investigation is continuing.

No further suspect information at this time.
