A budget has passed in Nelson County for the upcoming fiscal year. The budget approved by Supervisors this month, is $1.5 million less the previous budget and incorporates new tax rates that were approved in April. The county’s overall general fund includes $18 million in local funding. Media outlets report, in addition to the amount that goes toward schools, funding has been made available for the broadband project and the Piney River Water and Sewer Fund. But does not include raises this year for Nelson County staff or school employees.
