Governor-elect Ralph Northam has selected the Centra’s Chief Medical Officer to be Virginia’s next secretary of health and human resources. Dr. Daniel Carey is a Lynchburg cardiologist, and he will lead Northam’s efforts to expand Virginia’s Medicaid program. Northam says now that the General Assembly is much more evenly divided than before, he is confident that legislators will agree to the expansion.
