On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, Germany signed an armistice agreement with the Allies that ended the Great War, now known as World War I. Veterans Day, first observed as Armistice Day to honor veterans of World War I, now honors all who served in the United States Armed Forces.
There will be a Veterans Day Observance at Monument Terrace in Lynchburg on Nov. 11 at 11 AM.
There will be a Veterans Day Ceremony at Appomattox American Legion in Appomattox on Nov. 11 at 11 AM.
The National D-Day Memorial in Bedford will have an in-person and online Veterans Day Observance at 11am. Read more here
“Duty, Honor, Country: An American Salute” Concert at University of Lynchburg will be presented on Nov. 11-12 at 7:30 PM.
The 23rd Annual Veterans Appreciation Luncheon at Miller Park will be held on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 11 AM.
The National Center for Healthy Veterans will hold a Veterans Day Ceremony at Valor Farm in Altavista at 3pm, featuring keynote speaker Dr. Ben Carson. Read more here:
