A public hearing for an increased disposal fee at the regional landfill is set for April. The Livestock Road Regional Landfill serves the City of Lynchburg and Campbell County citizens and businesses, as well as participating localities that transfer solid waste to the regional landfill—they include the City of Bedford, Appomattox County, and Nelson County. The Region 2000 Services Authority on Wednesday voted to approve the gathering to gain resident input. According to the News & Advance, the proposed market rate disposal fee for commercial and private waste will be $38.75 per ton, 75 cents higher than the current rate. The average rate for Lynchburg and other waste contracts would increase from $34 to $36 per ton. The public hearing is set for 2 p.m. April 23.
