mad black bearWildlife experts say most bear sightings occur in May when bears are more active; there have already been a few this years; but on Friday one of those encounters turned deadly for a pot belly pig at the Gallastar Equine Center. Black bears are not normally aggressive animals and are typically attracted to livestock feed as opposed to the animal. But, according to a wildlife biologist with the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, it does sometimes happen; and there are some things to remember if you come face to face with one: Respectful their space; Make some noise; Back around and go your way…but don’t run, because it might elicit a chase response.
