Officials Say Confusion Grows Regarding Mass Mailing

Amherst County officials are advising the public to be alert to mailings soliciting homeowners to purchase water service line insurance. According to the Public Utilities Director, at least one county resident recently received such a letter from a company that claims to offer the protection. The Better Business Bureau has received numerous complaints, from consumers across the country, concerning Home Emergency Insurance Solutions; Officials warn that the direct mail solicitation is from an independent business and not come from the consumers’ utility company.
