A man had to be hospitalized Thursday night, after suffering an injury while setting off fireworks at Thomas Road Baptist Church’s Celebrate America show. According to the Lynchburg Deputy Fire Marshall, officials believe a launched mortar fell back down between racks used to hold fireworks, where it exploded. One worker suffered injuries to his lower extremities. The man was struck by pieces of the wooden frame and was not burned by the mortar itself.
