City of LynchburgFrom the City of Lynchburg: On Monday, December 7, Park Avenue will be reduced to one way traffic between Kemper Street and Buchanan Street. North bound traffic will be allowed in this one way work zone. A detour is in place for Buchanan Street, 12th Street, and Langhorne Road to direct south bound traffic around the work. This closure is necessary to construct street, sidewalk, and storm sewer improvements associated with the Kemper Street and Park Avenue portions of the project. Kemper Street will remain reduced to one way traffic between Park Avenue and 12th Street. Motorists should be aware of the traffic pattern changes and obey all signage. All other existing closures detour routes will remain in place, and motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area. Use of alternate routes is encouraged. The Midtown Connector Construction Project began during the summer of 2012 and is expected to be complete in 2016. The $18 million project includes road widening, a roundabout and upgrades to storm sewers, water lines, sanitary sewers and pedestrian facilities.
