Campbell County officials are developing of a master plan for a project that would include at least a firing range and possibly a regional public safety training facility. The issue was discussed again earlier this month, as part of a recent public works report, which Supervisors authorized in December. Joint committee members are considering whether to build a firing range for just the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office or one that could serve the region. Staff members plan to contact potential partners in the area. According to the Altavista Journal, The Blue Ridge Regional Jail, The City of Lynchburg, Liberty University and Bedford County all have expressed interest in joining Campbell County in a regional endeavor, but needed more details before any commitment could be made.
