LPD lynchburg policeOn 3/29/2015 at approximately 1:50AM, Officers with the Lynchburg Police Department responded to a report of a malicious wounding in the 400-block of Blackford Street. Upon arrival, Officers located a male who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his body. The male was identified as 29 year old Antonio Deshaun Scott of Lynchburg. Scott was transported to the Lynchburg General Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries. He is currently listed in critical condition. The suspect in the shooting was identified as 25 year old Jeremy Daryle Saunders. As a result, Saunders has outstanding warrants for Aggravated Malicious Wounding, Use of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Shooting Inside of an Occupied Dwelling. The incident is still under investigation by the Lynchburg Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division. We are seeking information on where Saunders can be located, as well as any other information related to the incident.

UPDATE: On March 31, 2015, the Lynchburg Police Department arrested 29 year old Jarrette Nelson Saunders of Lynchburg for the aggravated assault of a second victim from the scene of the incident on Blackford St. The victim was released from the hospital after treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. The second victim’s injuries were the result of a physical altercation and not the result of the discharging of a firearm. The victim’s name is being withheld due to the nature of the ongoing investigation.
