UPDATE: “No evidence of substantiated threat” at any Lynchburg school

LYNCHBURG POLICE UPDATE: – Over the past 14 hours, Lynchburg Police Department detectives have interviewed multiple individuals with knowledge of last night’s post about a school shooting and have not been able to verify that there was actually a credible threat to any Lynchburg City school.

We understand the fear this has caused for families, students, and staff. At this time, there is no evidence of a substantiated threat. The Lynchburg Police Department will continue to provide enhanced security at both Lynchburg City high schools today.

This series of incidents stresses the importance of verifying information with local law enforcement. Anytime individuals see or hear something of concern, we ask them to please call 9-1-1, (434) 847-1602, or anonymously report to Crime Stoppers by calling (888) 798-5900.
