State police are investigating an accident on Rt. 601 in Halifax County, which killed one teenager and seriously injured another Tuesday evening. Troopers say 17 year old, Charlie (CJ) Phillips, Jr., was killed when the car he was riding in went off the road and struck a tree. Police say the teenage driver who survived the crash ran off the side of Buckshoal Road before overcorrecting and hitting a tree. Memorial donations can be made to the Virgina Fire Department and the Midway Fire Department.
