Lynchburg Police say three armed robberies in the city this month appear to be related. The latest occurred last night at the Dollar General store on Memorial Avenue, where a man walked in with a handgun and demanded money. Police believe the same suspect appears responsible for similar holdups at the Express Lane on Memorial Avenue June 11th and the Wendy’s on Memorial Avenue June 2nd.

On June 2, 2016 at 2106 hrs, the Lynchburg Police Department responded to an armed robbery at the Wendy’s located at 2510 Memorial Ave. Officers arrived and spoke with an employee of the business. It was reported that the suspect entered the business and demanded money from the register, while also producing a handgun. The suspect then exited the business with an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency, and fled the scene on foot. The suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. Nobody was injured during the incident. The suspect is described as follows: Black male, middle age, approximately 5’8”, average to stocky build, and dark clothing.
On June 11, 2016 at approximately 10:08PM, officers with the Lynchburg Police Department responded to a report of a robbery at the Express Lane at 3001 Memorial Ave. Employees reported that an adult black male in his mid 30s about 5’9 ” to 5 11” tall with a thin to medium build, entered the business , pointed a handgun at the clerk, and demanded money. The suspect then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash
On June 26, 2016 at approximately 9:34 PM, officers with the Lynchburg Police Department responded to a report of a robbery at the Dollar General Store at 2312 Memorial Ave. Employees reported that a black male 5’9” to 5’11” with a medium to heavy build, wearing dark clothing and a ski type mask entered the business, pointed a handgun at the clerk, and demanded money. The suspect then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash. Witnesses reported seeing a maroon Buick sedan leaving the area after the robbery. No one was injured during the incident. This incident is currently being investigated by the Lynchburg Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Det.
