Dominion Resources Inc. is considering building a natural gas transmission pipeline through several Virginia Counties including Nelson. The approximately 450-mile-long pipeline, if built, would extent through Virginia to southern North Carolina. The company would like to have service for the proposed pipeline by the end of 2018, but tells media outlets that the project is in the preliminary” stage; and that a specific route is not been confirmed at this time. According to the Richmond-Times Dispatch, pipeline companies seeking to construct natural gas pipeline facilities must obtain approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. A non-binding open-season notice for the project was issued on April 16.
