Pre-trial motions were heard yesterday in the case of a Nelson County woman charged with murder and arson. 58 year old, Linda Campbell Blackwell is also charged with obtaining money by false pretenses in connection with an Aug. 2, 2009 fire that resulted in the death of James Shelton Sr. Yesterday attorneys argued for and against evidence to be used in the case. The Judge ruled certain topics would have to be dealt with over the course of the trial but overruled a motion by prosecutors wishing to use past evidence to show a pattern of behavior. Blackwell faces similar charges in connection with two other house fires on the same property on Creekview Lane in Lovingston in February 2012 and May 2013. The trial is set of March 4.
