The number of protective orders in Bedford County is on the rise. Sources say hundreds of orders are currently in effect throughout county. Residents have been becoming better educated about domestic violence and resources available to victims since legislation passed three years ago expanded the number of people who qualify for protection. Authorities say protective orders lower the threshold required to call police to a potentially dangerous situation.
