Residents in Appomattox County will have an opportunity to voice their thoughts on the county’s zoning ordinance amendments at tonight’s Board of Supervisors meeting. Officials have been working on updates since 2010. According to the News & Advance, many of the proposed modifications are to ensure the ordinance reflects the county’s current practices and the state code. The County’s Planning Commission recommended approval of the amendments at its November meeting. Many of changes them concern the special uses section of the ordinance such as adjusting buffer and landscaping requirements for convenience stores, commercial outdoor shooting ranges and mobile home parks. A second public hearing tonight will address possibly moving three polling site locations.
