The Lynchburg Humane Society’s Summer of 1,000 Lives kicked off on June 1st…AND sources say 48 pets found a forever home…beating the previous record of 23 adoptions in one day. This kick off event began the Humane Society’s competition in the 2014 ASPCA® Rachel Ray 100K Challenge. Local organizers say the goal is to have 1,000 or more animals leave the shelter this summer… The Executive Director says it will be accomplished through many adoption events and promotions between now and August 31st. The Lynchburg Humane Society is in a category with 10 other humane shelters that have an intake of 1,500-2,500 animal a year. The winning organization is eligible to win up to $25,000 in funding.
