There has been an increase in home sales in Virginia… especially in Lynchburg. According to findings from a Lynchburg area multiple listing service, growth at the start of the year has been a continuation from last year’s success in the region. In the Lynchburg area, year-to-year home sales increased 20 percent in 2013 compared to the previous year. Experts say the increase is part of a national trend. Lynchburg and the surrounding counties experienced at least a 15 percent year-over-year gain in home sales in 2013, which is 3 percent above the national average. The News & Advance reports, Lynchburg’s foreclosure rate – along with the commonwealth’s – has dropped to less than 1 percent. According to the article, Virginia is one of 17 states to have a foreclosure rate below 1 percent.
