Central Virginia Training Center is slated to close in six years–however, the center is undergoing renovation to bring the facility into full compliance with various state and federal regulations. Administrators say renovations are being performed on two building on the campus in Madison Heights; making it easier and safer for staff members to care for residents as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines and the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code. The center is scheduled to close by June 30, 2020; CVTC officials say until then, it is critical to both ensure funding reimbursement and to guarantee safety and security of the remaining 285 individuals that still reside at the training center.
