Property owners concerned with this year’s general reassessments have a second option of appeal. The New Era Progress reports the Amherst County Board of Equalization, will review the properties of owners still dissatisfied with appeals. The county is required to reassess properties at least every six years. According to the article, property owners contesting an assessment will meet with the board, which then will review the current and previous assessments as well properties in the area. The Board of Equalization may also physically look at properties–owners dissatisfied with decisions made by the Board can appeal to the Amherst County Circuit Court. The new property values went into effect on January 1.
