Lynchburg officials say construction is slated to begin this spring on new crosswalks, sidewalks and other upgrades in neighborhoods around several city schools. In 2012, The Virginia Department of Transportation awarded federal Safe Routes to School grant money to pay for projects; and in November received a second Safe Routes to School infrastructure grant.
