A group of about 20 people gathered yesterday in Lynchburg at Monument Terrace for a gay marriage support rally. Sources say recent polling suggests public support for same-sex marriage is growing; but the passage of the 2006 state constitutional amendment prohibiting gay marriage was approved by 57 percent of Virginia voters. A court case to overturn the state’s ban is pending in federal appeals court; and is set to be heard in Richmond on May 13.
