The Lynchburg City School board on Tuesday reviewed a proposed school calendar for 2014-15. The calendar is similar to this year’s calendar, except Election Day in November would be a holiday rather than a teacher workday. Earlier suggestions of adding a couple of intersession weeks didn’t end up in the proposal. The idea behind intersession weeks is to provide extra help to some students while giving others a week off. According to the News & Advance, school officials will look into ways to improve the current summer school program and might revisit the intersession idea in another school year.
