Lynchburg City School Administrators will soon begin to interview applicants from Heritage High School and E.C. Glass for the “Award for Excellence in Science” scholarship. Last fall, the school system announced that Dr. Charles W. Pryor, Jr. will contribute $100,000 in college scholarships to four outstanding high school seniors from the two city high schools over the next four years. The scholarship reinforces the city schools’ participation in the new Governor’s Regional STEM Academy at Central Virginia Community College. The donation will provide a $25,000 scholarship to be awarded every school year for the next four years to an outstanding senior interested in entering a science-related field of study. The first recipient of the scholarship will be chosen later this semester.
