Lynchburg’s Community Development Department will host an open house for citizens to discuss plans for pedestrian improvements around Dearington, Perrymont, and T.C. Miller Elementary Schools. Updates include sidewalks, crosswalks, and pedestrian signals. The City was awarded $376,796 in Safe Routes to School construction grants from the Virginia Department of Transportation to increase pedestrian safety around these schools. The project is a result of the Safe Routes to School partnership between the City of Lynchburg, Lynchburg City Schools, and the Region 2000 Local Government Council. The open house will be Thursday, January 9, 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. For more information visit: www.lynchburgva.gov
