The Campbell County Board of Supervisors gave the green light, yesterday, to explore a school consolidation proposal. A two-school system study will be conducted to provide information the supervisors need to determine whether they want to approve a recommended east, west system, which would have a campus with a high school and middle school in both ends of the county. The new study will be a follow-up to one conducted three years ago. The idea has been the topic of discussion periodically since the 1950s. The school board, earlier this year voted to incorporate the two-school system into the capital improvement plan but supervisors had yet to formally vote on the measure.
