UPDATE from the Bedford County Sheriff’s office: On Friday January 20, 2017, Bedford County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Derhonda Spruce and Margie Harder. Both were transported to the Bedford Adult Detention Center, where they are being held.
Previously: Thanks to several Central Virginia Crime Stoppers callers, Bedford County Sheriff’s deputies have identified the two female suspects responsible for the shoplifting from the Kroger Store in Forest on January 16, 2017. On Thursday, Bedford County Sheriff’s deputies obtained felony warrants for Margie R. Harder, age 53, of Lynchburg and Derhonda R. Spruce, age 52, of Lynchburg. They are both charged with larceny third or subsequent offense. Sheriff Mike Brown says “this is one more example of the invaluable assistance that Central Virginia Crime Stoppers provides the law enforcement agencies in Central Virginia”. Previously: At 7:45 p.m. Monday evening January 16, 2017, the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the Kroger Store located in Forest reporting shoplifting. A deputy responded to the store and spoke with the loss prevention manager. The manager reported that two white females, see attachments, entered the store at around 7:30 p.m. Both females concealed $100.00 worth of packaged meat and left the store. They were seen leaving the parking lot in a black crew cab pick-up truck, possibly a Chevy Silverado.
