Bedford County Schools are utilizing grant money to purchase and installed security cameras at elementary schools. Governor’s Taskforce on School and Campus Safety provided the money after the district applied last year for the grant, which offered money for security options at seven schools. The grant required a 25 percent local match and has been split among the four schools in accordance with size and need. Administrators say the cameras are part of a broader plan for crime prevention through environmental design. The systems, including indoor and outdoor high-definition cameras, must be ready by March 3.
