The Amherst County man responsible for a 19-county crime spree could spend the rest of his life in a Virginia state correctional facility. 34 year old, Kevin Scott Burchardt was sentenced Thursday in Fluvanna County to 205 years in prison with an active sentence of 43 years. Burchardt has been charged in a string of crimes across the state, most of which occurred in 2012; he has already been sentenced in Amherst and Nelson counties. Prosecutors estimated that, including time received in other jurisdictions; Burchardt will likely spend nearly eight decades behind bars before being eligible for release. According to media outlets, Burchardt suffered from an improperly diagnosed form of bipolar disorder and was not taking medicine at the time of the thefts. An Albemarle County judge will sentence him for crimes in that locality on April 22. Burchardt also faces charges in Campbell County.
