MedExpress has agreed to pay $1.5 million in the case of a Montvale girl who died shortly after being given a dangerous dose of painkillers for a sore throat. The News & Advance reports, the settlement, approved last week averts a lawsuit in the April 2013 death of 17-year-old Jessica Erin Hart. According to the article, had the case gone to trial, there would have been a dispute over whether Hart’s death was the result of medical malpractice at the urgent care facility in Roanoke County.
