Lynchburg-Regional-ChamberAll tourism program staffers will likely receive a severance package from the Lynchburg Regional Chamber of Commerce by the end of the year. The chamber-run program is set to close its operations on Dec. 31. The city has said it will offer employment to all current tourism staffers. But first, city officials must approve the creation of a new internal tourism department and re-establish the tourism advisory board. The Chamber says the staff’s future employment prospects will not be a factor in during the layoff. The tourism matter is set for a vote by City council today.
