Shared Services Closing in Libraries

A shared services agreement between Lynchburg and Amherst libraries is coming to a close. The end of the year marks the end of a shared services agreement between the two systems in the seven years, between 7,000 to 8,000 books were exchanged annually but as of January 1 Amherst County Public Library cardholders will no longer be able to request or place holds on books belonging to the Lynchburg Public Library. Amherst County residents can obtain free library cards from the public libraries in Campbell, Bedford, Appomattox and Rockbridge counties. Materials from across the state and nationally can still be requested through the interlibrary loan system.
