A shortage in judges across the state has put a strain on local courts leading to delays and backlogs in many areas. In the past, Lynchburg Circuit Court has operated with 2 sitting judges. However, after one judge retired last year, the Circuit Court has been struggling to keep up with the work load. According to WSET, State lawmakers failed to fill the positions while they were busy battling over Medicaid expansion. This Thursday they’re set to bring it back up during their special session.
