Scores of residents made their way on foot yesterday. Many vehicles were abandoned by drivers Wednesday evening and some were plowed under or blocked by mounds of snow—but before many could dig out, along came an extra round of snow yesterday… making roads a slick mess, as the storm left a second coat of slush on already cleared roads. VDOT says the extended snow fall, that dropped an addition one to four additional inches in some locations, forced plows to prioritize the primaries again, and hold off on clearing the residential roads. VDOT officials say expect most residential streets to be passable, not clear but manageable, by Saturday evening. As for Lynchburg City, Public Works has 40 trucks out working non-stop; officials anticipate every street in the city will be clear by Sunday evening if not Monday morning.
