Speed Ruled Out As Cause Of Train Derailment

Officials say the investigation into the cause of Wednesday’s derailment of that CSX train continues. National Transportation Safety Board investigators says the on-site probe is only the first step, of what needs to be done to determine the cause for the tankers to roll off the tracks on Wednesday… So far we do know that the train was traveling 24 miles per hour, below the speed limit of 25– a final determination and report may not be produced for 6 to 18 months. Neither NTSB or CSX officials can say exactly how long it will take to move the damaged cars and repair the railroad tracks.
