The Town of Amherst’s future town hall renovations is on schedule . Work that began on the exterior of the building in January is progressing. The new town hall will provide space for the Amherst Police Department; as well as an office for the Town Manager; and chambers for the town council. The current town hall, formerly housed a bank; its open floor plan presented a number of issues over the years such as lack of handicap accessibility, limited space and privacy concerns. The facility being renovated was built in 1976 and has undergone several transitions in its 38 year history. The anticipated completion date is sometime before May 16.
