Weather experts say the region could see the biggest 24-hour snowfall in years. Crews will be out in force through the duration of the storm to treat and plow roads. The Emergency Services Department, VDOT and Public Works have pooled resources and more than 12,300 pieces of equipment, including trucks and plows will be deployed. The Departments have coordinating with others to make sure the city doesn’t come to a standstill in the snow. Officials say crew will be working 24 hours a day until roads are cleared with a goal of having all state-maintained roads passable within 48 hours after the storm ends. VDOT is also prepared to remove trees, branches and other debris that may fall on roadways.
