The Appomattox board of Supervisors on Monday approved a public hearing next month on the draft stormwater management ordinance The ordinance is part of the state required plan, which places localities in charge of regulating stormwater management as of July 1, something that originally had been done on the state level. According to the News & Advance, some bills in the General Assembly could either postpone the implementation by a year or switch it from the localities’ responsibility to the Department of Environmental Quality. County officials say staff is unsure those bills would pass and requested the supervisors approve a public hearing so the county can meet the current implementation deadlines. The Public Hearing will be held during the boards meeting in March.
