Sending students to class year-round has been so successful at one school in Lynchburg, leaders may expand the concept. The Lynchburg school board is exploring the concept of expanding the 12-month schedule. Bass Elementary School has been using the program for about 10 years. Jay McClain, the assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, say there have been significant gains on SOLs. The school board isn’t expected to make a decision until next year.
