After much debate and narrowly being approved, the Bedford County Board of Supervisors approved funding for the National D-Day Memorial’s “Homage” statue. It was close— a 4 to 3 vote this week, ultimately approved $50,000 in financial support towards the bronze statue in memory of the Bedford Boys—A group of local young men…the Bedford Boys… suffered heavy casualties during the June 6, 1944 invasion of Normandy.
