The Campbell County Board of Supervisors is set to work out details regarding priority initiatives, which will help create the county’s budget for the next fiscal year. Last month, the County Administrator presented the board with a tentative list and today the board will bring suggestions on additions and deletions to the list. Aspects to be measured in their decision making include; an expected rise in healthcare costs for county employees; and the likelihood of an increase to the cost of Virginia Retirement System contributions by teachers. Administrators also caution supervisors of a higher composite stress index due to its quicker economic recovery than other Virginia localities–meaning the county should expect to receive less state funding. Some projects on the county’s wish list will be paid for with grant money.
