Planes, trains and automobiles…the holiday travel season is underway! Locally, today is expected to be the busiest day of the year at the Lynchburg Regional Airport. For the first time, U.S. Airways has added extra departing flights this weekend, to accommodate the mass of students flying home for Thanksgiving. Activity at the airport will ramp back up next weekend when students return. For those choosing the train, rail riders can expect big crowds Wednesday on Amtrak trains. According to media outlets, last year, the day before Thanksgiving was the single busiest day in the history of Amtrak. The Lynchburg originating Northeast Regional line says extra service is being added.
