Once the second-largest employer in the town of Appomattox… the former Thomasville plant is on the auction block. In the industry brand’s heyday, the plant employed about 1,300 local workers. The site closed in 2011; and now the familiar furniture factory will join a property in Altavista to be included among Virginia properties that will be auctioned off in a bankruptcy sale. The new owner has accelerated the pace at which it is disposing of unwanted assets; a list that currently stands at 17 real estate assets for sale. The sealed bid deadline is June 24.
